MARY, THE DAWN OF HOPE
Today the Church rejoices in the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the woman chosen by God to become the Mother of Jesus. Her birth is a sign that God’s saving plan is quietly unfolding in human history. In Mary, we see a life completely open to grace, a heart ready to trust, and a humble servant willing to say yes to God. Her life reminds us that God can accomplish great things through those who place themselves faithfully in His hands.
The readings invite us to recognise that our lives too are part of God’s loving plan. The prophet Micah points toward the coming of the shepherd who will bring peace, while the Gospel shows how Jesus enters human history through a family line shaped by both grace and human weakness. Mary stands within this story as a woman of faith, hope, and obedience. As we celebrate her birthday, may we learn from her to trust God more deeply and to carry Christ joyfully into our families and communities.
