LOVE THAT CORRECTS AND RESTORES
Jesus teaches us today that genuine Christian love does not ignore another person’s faults, nor does it condemn or humiliate. It reaches out with patience, truth, and a sincere desire to restore relationships. Fraternal correction is therefore not about proving someone wrong, but about winning back a brother or sister. The Gospel invites us to become builders of reconciliation, approaching one another with humility and love whenever relationships are wounded.
The prophet Ezekiel reminds us that we are responsible for one another, while Saint Paul tells us that love is the fulfilment of the law. Christian love cares enough to speak the truth, forgive, listen, and help another person return to the right path. When we choose dialogue instead of gossip, reconciliation instead of resentment, and prayer instead of division, Christ becomes truly present among us. Our families and communities can then become places where wounds are healed and relationships are renewed.
