MARY, OUR HOPE; FREEDOM, OUR RESPONSIBILITY
As we celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we rejoice in the glory God has prepared for those who remain faithful to Him. Mary’s life was a journey of trust, humility, and generous service. In the Gospel, she goes in haste to serve Elizabeth and then sings her Magnificat, praising the God who lifts up the lowly and remembers His mercy. Her Assumption assures us that our Christian journey is directed towards the fullness of life with God.
On this same day, India celebrates Independence Day, giving us an opportunity to thank God for the gift of freedom and to remember those who sacrificed for our nation. True freedom calls us not only to enjoy our rights but also to fulfil our responsibilities with justice, peace, compassion, and respect for every person. Inspired by Mary, may we become people who carry Christ to others and help build a nation where unity, dignity, fraternity, and care for the poor flourish.
