YOU ARE THE CHRIST
On this Twenty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time, Jesus asks His disciples a deeply personal question: “Who do you say that I am?” Peter answers with faith, confessing Jesus as the Christ, the Son of the living God. His profession reminds us that Christian faith is not merely knowing about Jesus, but knowing Him personally, trusting Him, and allowing Him to shape our lives.
The readings also remind us that authority and responsibility are gifts entrusted by God for service. The key given to Eliakim in the first reading finds a deeper fulfilment in the mission entrusted to Peter in the Gospel. Saint Paul, meanwhile, leads us to wonder at the unfathomable wisdom of God. We are invited to place our trust in Him, use our responsibilities faithfully, and profess our faith not only with our lips but through lives of humble service.
Smart Liturgy shares these resources to help our Sunday celebration become more prayerful, meaningful, and participative. May they enrich your personal and community prayer, and please share them with your families, friends, parish groups, and communities.
