LIVE THE GOSPEL WITH SIMPLICITY
The Memorial of St. Francis of Assisi invites us to rediscover the beauty of a life centred completely on Christ. In the Gospel, Jesus reveals Himself as meek and humble of heart and invites the weary to come to Him and find rest. St. Francis responded to this invitation with extraordinary simplicity. Leaving behind comfort and worldly ambition, he embraced poverty, humility, and the Cross, seeking above all to live the Gospel faithfully.
St. Francis reminds us that true richness is found not in what we possess, but in how deeply we belong to God. His love for the poor, his reverence for creation, and his desire for peace flowed from his intimate friendship with Jesus. His life challenges us to simplify our hearts, care for those in need, become instruments of reconciliation, and recognise every person and all creation as gifts entrusted to our care.
As we celebrate St. Francis of Assisi, may his example inspire us to follow Christ with joyful simplicity, humility, and generous love.
