CALLED TO SERVE, READY TO WITNESS
The Feast of Saint James the Apostle invites us to reflect on the true meaning of Christian greatness. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches James and the other disciples that greatness in God’s Kingdom is not found in power or honour, but in humble service. The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve and to give his life for many.
Saint James gradually allowed this teaching to transform his life. Strengthened by the grace of Christ, he became a courageous witness to the Gospel and was the first among the Apostles to suffer martyrdom. His life reminds us that we carry the treasure of faith in fragile human vessels, yet God’s power enables us to remain faithful, generous, and courageous in our mission.
