FOLLOWING CHRIST WITH A GENEROUS HEART
The 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time invites us to place Christ at the centre of our lives. In the Gospel, Jesus speaks clearly about the cost of discipleship: to love Him above all, to take up our cross, and to follow Him with courage. True discipleship is not a half-hearted journey, but a daily offering of love, sacrifice, and faithful commitment.
The first reading shows the blessing that comes through hospitality, as the Shunammite woman welcomes the prophet Elisha with generosity. Saint Paul reminds us that through baptism we have died with Christ and are called to live a new life in Him. Even a simple act of kindness, like giving a cup of cold water, becomes precious when done with love for Christ.
