THE RIGHT OPTIONS
God is exalted through the narration of the creation story of human beings, the most advanced of all creatures. Yet, the responsibility for the disorder in the world is attributed to human being. The temptations that Jesus faced and his victory over them are in sharp contrast to the failure of the first parents when faced with the alluring temptation the devil so cleverly devised for them. Their failure was the originating sin and the beginning of evil in the world (i.e., the original sin and all its consequences). The conquest of Jesus over temptation is the remedy for that failure. Jesus decidedly turned away the tempter because his messianic role was not to capture earthly power and dominion but to conquer hearts and consciences lovingly, to lead them to a loving submission and obedience to the one true God. Where sin is multiplied, abundance of grace is offered through Jesus to enable human beings to seek pardon and to stand against evil. As the sin of the first parents led to condemnation for all, the obedience of one man, Jesus Christ, makes all righteous.
